Position: Director, Compliance – State Licensing

 

Role Summary: The dynamic Compliance team at GreenSky is seeking a motivated, independent, and driven Director, Compliance – State Licensing & Regulatory Affairs to join the team. This role serves as the Company’s subject matter expert for multi-jurisdictional state licensing, regulatory examination management, and regulatory affairs. The Director will lead the design and execution of GreenSky’s state licensing program across all applicable license types, including consumer lending, mortgage brokering, loan brokering, and debt collection, leveraging deep expertise in NMLS and multi-state regulatory requirements. The role requires hands-on management of state regulatory examinations, direct engagement with state regulators, and close partnership with Legal, Operations, Product, and Technology teams. Organization: Compliance Department; this position reports to the Chief Compliance Officer

 

Location: Glenridge Connector, Atlanta, Georgia (3 days/week in office)

Duties & Responsibilities

State Licensing Program Management

  • Design, organize, and manage the Company’s comprehensive multi-jurisdictional state licensing program, including initial applications, renewals, amendments, and surrenders across all applicable license types (consumer lending, mortgage brokering, loan brokering, sales finance, debt collection, and related categories)
  • Monitor and interpret changes to state licensing laws, regulations, and regulatory guidance; assess business impact and coordinate timely implementation of required updates with relevant stakeholders

Regulatory Examination Management

  • Manage state regulatory examinations in the lending, servicing, mortgage brokering, loan brokering, and debt collections space, including end-to-end coordination of examination preparation, document production, and examiner communications

Policies, Documentation & Reporting

  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve licensing policies, procedures, and standard operating documentation, ensuring materials are current, accurate, and accessible to relevant stakeholders
  • Maintain comprehensive licensing management records and reporting, including dashboards tracking license status, expiration dates, examination activity, QI/DRI assignments, and key program metrics for senior management visibility
  • Prepare and present licensing status updates, regulatory developments, and examination findings to senior management and relevant governance committees as needed

Required Skills/Qualifications

  • Experience with state licensing and regulatory examination management across a broad range of license types and jurisdictions
  • Active Mortgage Loan Officer (MLO) license, or qualification as a Qualifying Individual (QI) or Designated Responsible Individual (DRI), or demonstrated ability and willingness to obtain such credentials
  • Comfort with ambiguity, change, and multi-tasking in a dynamic, fast-paced, and high-growth environment
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing complex, multi-jurisdictional compliance obligations and building scalable compliance infrastructure

 

Our compensation structure is designed to reflect the cost of labor across various U.S. geographic markets. The base salary for this role ranges from $120,000 per year to $165,000 per year. Compensation will be determined by several factors, including relevant knowledge, skills, and experience. This role is also eligible to receive an annual bonus within a comprehensive total rewards package, alongside a full suite of medical, dental, vision, disability insurance, life insurance, 401k retirement benefits, paid time off, paid holidays, and paid personal/sick time.
