Position: Senior Tax Associate

 

Location: Sandy Springs, GA/Hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days remote)

 

Overview:

This role will support both tax accounting and compliance. The tax team ensures the company is compliant with taxing authorities and corporate governance standards, administers tax planning, and supports the financial reporting of these areas. Detail-oriented tax calculations and communications will be key components of this role, with opportunity to expand beyond these areas. Teamwork and cross-functional collaboration is a must and this position works very closely coordinating with our third-party vendors.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review tax workpapers, schedules, and supporting documentation for federal and state income tax returns in coordination with external service providers
  • Oversee quarterly and annual tax accounting processes, including provision calculations, uncertain tax positions, and valuation allowance analyses
  • Research, document, and support tax positions for compliance, audits, and internal review
  • Assist with the calculation and documentation of R&D credits and other tax credit programs
  • Support the annual 1099 reporting process, coordinating data collection with internal stakeholders and third-party vendors
  • Proactively identify new payroll tax developments and facilitate payroll tax items with HR group
  • Prepare property tax and occupational/entity level tax returns and oversees related accruals
  • Assist with managing correspondence and responses to taxing authorities, including routine notices and information requests
  • Contribute to ownership, intercompany, and internal tax reporting requirements
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives, documentation of internal controls, and special projects as assigned

Required Skills/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, or a related field
  • 3 years of relevant tax experience, preferably a mix of public accounting and/or corporate tax
  • Solid understanding of tax accounting and compliance concepts
  • Ability to work independently on routine assignments while escalating complex issues appropriately
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain tax concepts clearly
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and time-management skills

Technical Skills & Knowledge

  • Working knowledge of federal and state tax compliance and tax accounting principles
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and work with complex data sets
  • Advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, lookups, large data sets)
  • Comfort working with tax software, ERP systems, and evolving technology tools

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active progress towards CPA certification
  • Prior experience supporting audits or tax authority inquiries
  • Exposure to process improvement, automation, or tax technology initiatives

Our compensation structure is designed to reflect the cost of labor across various U.S. geographic markets. The base salary for this role ranges from $95,000 per year to $120,000 per year. Compensation will be determined by several factors, including relevant knowledge, skills, and experience.
