Job Title: Manager of Counterparty Risk and Business Continuity

 

Summary: The Manager of Counterparty Risk and Business Continuity is responsible for overseeing and managing risks associated with counterparties, third parties, and merchants. This role also involves developing and implementing business continuity plans to ensure the organization can continue operations during and after disruptions. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in risk management, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to develop and maintain third-party risk programs and effective business continuity strategies.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

Risk Management:

  • Identify, assess, and manage risks related to counterparties, third parties, and merchants.
  • Develop and implement risk management policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments regarding reputational, operational, country, and financial risks.
  • Collaborate with the Vendor Relationship Owner to mitigate risks.
  • Work with Vendor Management, Security Risk, and Compliance to produce an overall risk score.
  • Monitor and report on risk exposure and mitigation activities to senior management.
  • Review third-party SLAs to ensure compliance and assess financial implications.

Business Continuity:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain business continuity plans.
  • Conduct business impact analyses to identify critical functions and processes.
  • Coordinate and conduct regular business continuity tabletop exercises.
  • Ensure business continuity plans are up-to-date and effective.
  • Lead the response to business disruptions, coordinating recovery efforts and communication.
  • Maintain the emergency alert system.
  • Support critical vendors' business continuity plans and testing.

Counterparty and Merchant Management:

  • Evaluate and monitor the risk profiles of vendors and merchants.
  • Ensure counterparties and merchants comply with the organization’s risk management policies.
  • Develop scorecards to rate and score counterparties and merchants.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Prepare detailed reports on risk management and business continuity activities.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of risk assessments and business continuity plans.
  • Develop Key Risk Indicators and Key Performance Indicators for third-party risk management.

Required Skills/Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in risk management, business continuity, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in managing counterparty, third party, and merchant risks.
  • Experience in developing and implementing business continuity plans.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in GRC tools.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.

Certifications:

  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Risk Manager (CRM), Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP), or similar are preferred.
