Position: AI and Data Governance Manager, Enterprise Risk

Summary:

As the AI and Data Governance Manager within the Enterprise Risk team, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the governance of AI and Data initiatives. This role involves ensuring that AI and data practices align with regulatory requirements, organizational policies, and ethical standards. You will collaborate with various departments to manage risks, enhance data quality, and drive innovation through responsible AI and data governance.

Duties & Responsibilities

Enterprise Risk Management:

  • Ensure alignment with enterprise risk management policies related to AI and data governance and recommend improvements.
  • Identify, assess, and monitor risks associated with AI and data initiatives across all business units.
  • Establish risk appetite and tolerance levels for AI and data in collaboration with executive management and the Board of Directors.
  • Monitor key risk indicators and report on risk exposure for AI and data to senior management and the Board of Directors

Data Governance:

  • Oversee the overall data governance strategy to ensure data quality, security, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align data initiatives with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct data quality assessments and implement data cleansing and validation processes.
  • Develop and deliver training programs on data governance principles, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Work with Data Stewards, Data users, Chief Data Officer to ensure accurate data is being reported.
  • Create standard data sets per persona.
  • Manage Data requests, Data Release and Data Reporting. 
  • Perform 2nd line reviews on Data requests and evidence.

AI Governance:

  • Create the AI governance framework by utilizing a standard AI framework (e.g. NIST) and match our risks against that framework. A robust AI framework will include effective challenge testing.
  • Review how LLMs are being utilized functionally work, what data they use, how they arrive at their outcomes, and how they are used in business decisions.
  • Govern the development and implementation of ethical AI guidelines and tools for AI development and deployment.
  • Conduct ethical impact assessments to evaluate the societal and ethical implications of AI applications.
  • Identify and assess risks associated with AI initiatives and implement mechanisms to mitigate biases in AI algorithms and datasets.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations such as the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX), Payment Card Industry (PCI), and privacy regulations.
  • Maintain AI policies and procedures.
  • Govern the approval of AI initiatives and work with Vendor Security Risk Management on approval of 3rd party vendors utilizing AI.
  • Provide oversight for AI assistants such as copilot utilized at GreenSky.
  • Develop training that supports ethical use of AI.

Required Skills/Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, Risk Management).
  • Proven experience in enterprise risk management, data governance, and AI governance.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to data and AI.
  • Excellent leadership, strategic vision, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts to diverse stakeholders.
