Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Leader of Risk Assessment and Reporting to lead our risk management efforts, specifically having expertise within the FinTech and Financial Services sectors. This senior leader will report directly to the Chief Risk Officer to ensure the organization not only meets but exceeds its regulatory and internal risk management standards. As a subject matter expert in risk assessment, you will drive the development and implementation of key risk indicators (KRIs), develop actionable risk reports, and provide guidance to the business on mitigating current risks while anticipating and preparing for emerging threats.

 

 

Duties & Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy:

  • Serve as a thought leader and strategic partner within the risk management function, driving innovative approaches to assess, manage, and mitigate risk across the organization.
  • Lead and inspire a team of risk assessment and reporting professionals, fostering a collaborative, data-driven, and solutions-oriented culture.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments to integrate risk management into the organization’s overall business strategy.

Risk Identification & Evaluation:

  • Develop, maintain, and evolve key risk indicators (KRIs) tailored to the unique challenges and regulatory demands of the financial services and fintech sectors.
  • Oversee the assessment of current and emerging risks across all operational areas, including credit, market, regulatory, operational, and technology risks.
  • Continuously refine risk identification processes to ensure comprehensive risk coverage and proactive identification of potential threats.

Reporting & Analytics:

  • Lead the development of detailed, high-quality risk reports for senior management, the CRO, and the board, highlighting current risk exposures, trends, and actionable insights.
  • Utilize data analytics and technology to create predictive risk models, dashboards, and metrics to provide real-time insights and support risk mitigation efforts.

Remediation & Improvement:

  • Design and implement risk remediation processes to address identified gaps, ensuring timely and effective resolution of risk exposures.
  • Partner with business units to develop corrective action plans for any identified deficiencies and track progress to successful completion. 

Future Risk Planning & Evolution:

  • Anticipate future risks and market changes, adapting the organization’s risk priorities to align with evolving industry standards, regulatory expectations, and technological advancements.
  • Regularly update the organization’s risk policies, practices, and framework to reflect emerging risks and new regulatory requirements.

Required Skills/Qualifications

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in risk management within the financial services or fintech industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven expertise in risk assessment, KRI development, and risk reporting, ideally within a regulatory-driven environment.
  • Strong understanding of the regulatory landscape and best practices in the financial services industry.
  • Proficiency in risk assessment tools, data analytics, and reporting software; experience with advanced data visualization and predictive modeling preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all organizational levels.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, risk management, business, or a related field; MBA or relevant master’s degree preferred.
