Position:    Infrastructure Project Manager

 

Location:    Atlanta, GA

 

Overview:

This project management role forms part of a distributed infrastructure team that is responsible for the continued availability and support of an international on premise and cloud infrastructure. The role will be expected to work in a fast-pace environment with high degrees of ambiguity arising from a period of significant change.

 

This role will be responsible for actively supporting and/or leading projects or programs including the planning, management, and implementation of the assigned project across the business. Critical projects are aimed at accomplishing broad, long-term strategic objectives such as enhancing revenue, improving quality and/or efficiency, improving the processes, affecting cost savings, advancing technological development, impacting talent management, advancing teammate capabilities, implementing new product initiatives, or other strategic priorities. Roles will not only assist in creating critical project and program management deliverables (e.g. Project Charter, Project Plans, Critical Issues Log, Analysis, etc.), but will also be expected to support the team in achieving priorities, goals and strategies with key stakeholders. Applies various technical disciplines such as process improvement, data analysis, and facilitation. Provides objective advice, expertise and specialist support skills with the aim of creating value and maximizing growth, or improving the business performance of their clients.

 

Organizational: This position is a member of the PMO team.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties & Responsibilities:

Manage Program Progress - Keep projects on schedule and within budget. This includes cutting costs as needed, working with management on delegating more staff to work on programs, and performing other tasks to maintain project parameters. They report program progress regularly to management executives.

 

Track Technical Issues - Track technical issues and find solutions for program problems as they arise. Tracks all issues to resolution and updates all stakeholders.

  • Respond to the Business Units’ requirements as appropriate
  • Ability to build and maintain strong effective working relationships with customers and key resources to drive the project from initiation to closure successfully.
  • Ability to efficiently manage time, prioritize work, multi-task across multiple projects of varying sizes and complexity, maintaining quality and control in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong skills in building and tracking small to complex project schedules
    • Ensure up to date records are always maintained on the Group and Company systems
  • Support the business units with their use of the IT systems
  • Be highly collaborative with the current team, management structure and business leaders
  • Ability to lead and provide guidance to infrastructure engineers drawing on their project and technical experience
  • Strong skills and experience in issue resolution, directing and driving team members and stakeholders to meet the ultimate goals and objectives of the project.
    • Interpret instructions and identify rising risk and issues within a project with the ability to define and implement mitigations according to policies and procedures
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills with the ability to present the information clearly within weekly project status reports and dashboards.
  • Demonstrate excellent stakeholder management experience
  • Demonstrate examples of similar successful positions in the past
  • Demonstrate a very high level of customer service and empathy to the customer issues delivering solutions while working within budget
  • Negotiate with suppliers to provide best balance of quality, service and price
  • Demonstrate a ‘Can-Do’ attitude

Required Skills/Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Minimum of 5+ years of Project Management experience and/or process improvement experience in an Infrastructure Project Manager role
  • Infrastructure knowledge, previous experience as an Infrastructure Engineer, although not essential is advantageous for the role
  • Experience working with Server, Desktop, Network and Telephony providers
  • Experience working with client-side technologies
  • Experience working with cloud based technologies, such as O365
  • Good networking knowledge
  • Good knowledge of IP Telephony
  • Strong skills and experience in issue resolution, influencing team members and other stakeholders, conduct difficult negotiations and managing to stringent timelines for project deliverables
  • Demonstrated superior understanding of business and technology organization, resources, priorities, needs and policies
  • Demonstrated leadership in the implementation of complex Programs and Projects
  • Experience with the Waterfall and Agile Software Development Life Cycle
  • Ability to bring clarity to ambiguous assignments
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong skills in MS Office Suite

 

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

  • PMP, ACP, CSM and/or PgMP
  • Financial Services experience
  • Certification in Lean, Six Sigma, process improvement, facilitation and project management methodologies
  • Experience implementing large/complex initiatives across a matrix organization
  • Superior working knowledge of business matters, finance, planning, and forecasting
  • In-depth knowledge of management and planning systems theory and practical application to complex initiatives
  • Experience with financial measurements and metrics.
