The Senior Instructional Designer (ID) manages the workflow of course development/design processes, reviews and evaluates course design, and applies best practices related to analyzes, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of instructional courses, assessments, job aids, and other learning deliverables for associates in all areas of GreenSky’s Operations. In addition to creating deliverables for all phases of the course creation lifecycle, the Senior ID may also supervise the instructional design staff to ensure training initiatives reflect continuity and sound instructional design practices. This is achieved by establishing or leveraging a style guide, templates and burndown charts with the use of educational technologies for face to face delivery, action learning course platforms, e-learning courses, videos, and Virtual Instructor-Led Training (VILT) and other learning products, with a focus on incorporating a variety of media and learning methods to create an effective learning environment. This person is responsible for ensuring that quality standards are integrated consistently through training approaches and material for the Learning and Development Department.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

 

  • Contributing to thought leadership on instructional design best practices and implementation of blended learning, including identifying and implementing innovative technologies and approaches.
  • Mentoring or supervising assigned instructional design staff on learning techniques and approaches and manages the course development and design process.
  • Works with Operations Subject Mater Experts and instructional design staff on the development of training solutions and ensure course quality through the appropriate blend of andragogy and technology based on learning theory and instructional design practices.
  • Performance official reviews of course development and other instructional material and activities, regardless of modality, to recommend revisions that are accordance with best practices or other standards and the expected learning outcomes.
  • Improves the level of understanding of the instructional designers by providing resources and other support in research based adult learning methodologies.
  • Designing and delivering training materials and programs using sound instructional design practices and methodologies.
  • Designing and delivering all training materials and course content to ensure incorporation of the best practices in adult learning theory.
  • Utilizing and implementing the ADDIE instructional design process to develop required course content and deliverables.
  • Conferring with management, supervisors, employees and subject matter experts (internal and external) as needed to gather knowledge of work situations which require training to better understand changes in policies, procedures, regulations, business initiatives and technologies.
  • Conducting needs-assessments and performance analyses to determine training needs.
  • Delivering effective interactive training sessions and materials that facilitate application of knowledge and learning.
  • Developing training utilizing multimedia visual aids, web-based training, and reference work.
  • Developing and implementing evaluation strategies to ensure program objectives, quality and company standards are achieved.
  • Updating and enhancing existing programs as necessary to meet the changing needs of the business by implementing new and innovative delivery methods.
  • Leading meetings, seminars, and training sessions to obtain new information to be integrated into training materials.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of learning methods delivered.
  • Staying apprised of current trends in training and applications and make recommendations for enhancements to programs as appropriate.
  • Submitting burn down (or other) reports to the Vice President, Learning and Development detailing the status of assigned projects, user feedback, one-on-one sessions, project requests and a summary of any unexpected work that may have to be done.

Required Skills/Qualifications

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master’s Degree in Instructional Design preferred.
  • 10+ years of leading instructional design efforts, creating various training curriculums, programs & materials.
  • Technical writing experience in the Financial or Financial Technology industry is preferred.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects while working well under pressure.
  • Ability to guide self and others through management & prioritization of multiple projects.
  • Advanced technical proficiency with Articulate Storyline & Adobe Captivate.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office suite.
  • Experience with learning management systems is preferred.
  • Experience working in a regulatory environment is a plus.
  • Mastery with document management, time management, and legal-specific software preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in addition to the ability to motivate others.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills to successfully meet deadlines.

  • Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision while maintaining a strong sense of team collaboration.
