    Position:    Manager of Loss Mitigation and Workout



    The ultimate goal of the successful Loss Mitigation and Workout Manager is to minimize monetary losses caused by merchants who are experiencing significant financial and/or servicing difficulties. The ideal candidate must be able to quickly identify and react quickly to high risk indicators within the merchant portfolio. This position has elevated visibility to senior leadership.


    Location:  Atlanta, GA. Infrequent travel may be required.


    Organizational:  This position is a member of the Merchant Risk Management team and will report directly to the Vice President of Merchant Risk Management.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Effectively manage potential losses for a small portfolio of existing high risk merchants.
    • Effectively manage, guide, and train the Loss Mitigation and Workout Analyst(s).
    • Manage communication and analysis on high risk, high profile merchant accounts
    • Formulate effective loss mitigation strategies; deliver the strategic message to internal and external partners; implement the proposed strategy and monitor ongoing effectiveness.
    • Effectively communicate Workout portfolio updates to senior management and leadership.
    • Partner with internal and external legal counsel as needed.
    • Communicate effectively to merchants, delivering adverse action strategy messages in a professional and courteous manner, fostering acceptance of the message and cooperation with the proposed strategy.
    • Analyze merchant financial statements to assess financial default risk.
    • Assist with data analysis on merchant portfolio and high risk accounts
    • Ensure compliance with the Merchant Risk Management Guidelines and Policy.
    • Independently identify opportunities to implement new policies, processes, and procedures.
    • Oversee the ongoing monitoring and analysis of various high risk merchant activities in an effort to identify activity that may cause additional losses to the firm, or violate the terms of the GreenSky merchant program agreement.
    • Perform ongoing data analysis, occasionally in collaboration with Analytics team, to enhance risk management.
    • Effective and consistent ongoing communication with merchants to gather information and to ensure the proposed loss mitigation strategy is being followed accordingly.
    • Collaborate with other departments in the organization in an effort to resolve outstanding issues and accumulate additional information and decision-making data.
    • Adhere to established partner bank policies, company guidelines, and all regulatory requirements.

    Required Skills/Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution; Accounting and Finance.
    • Minimum of 2 years of previous Loss Mitigation and /or Workout ("Special Mention Assets") experience; strong foundational knowledge of federal bankruptcy laws.
    • Must have a minimum of 5-7 years of financial analysis experience.
    • Minimum of 2 years of financial industry or merchant acquiring industry experience preferred.
    • Demonstrated leadership, time management, and organizational skills.
    • Experience and history of effective communication with C-suite leaders.
    • Knowledge of SQL is preferred but not required.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate across various lines of business and multiple levels of management.
    • Ability to innovate risk management practices and react rapidly to changes in the risk environment.
    • Strong ability to react quickly and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong data analysis skills


    Desired Qualifications:

    • Self-starter, must be able to work independently as well as within a team environment
    • Ability to work well under pressure within a fast-paced environment
    • Must be able to understand the basics of a Customer Contact Center
    • Knowledge of Lexus Nexus, Ideology, TLO, Innovation, TransUnion
    • Microsoft Office Excel (Pivot tables and V-lookups)


    Technical Skills:

    • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
    • Financial statement spreading software.
    • Ability to identify merchant trends and perform trend analysis.


    Desired but not required Qualifications:

    • Knowledge of GreenSky’s products and risks associated with providing services to merchants.
    • Educational and/or professional background in commercial credit or commercial underwriting.
